Hailing from Coquitlam BC, Melanie grew up training and competing locally and internationally in various styles of dance including classical ballet, jazz, contemporary and musical theatre. Melanie is a recent honours graduate of Ryerson University’s BFA dance program. While at Ryerson, Melanie performed works by Peter Chin, Alysa Pires and Irena Ponitsova, and received her multi-genre training from Vicki St. Denys, Louis Laberge Cote, and Robert Glumbeck, to name a few. Outside of Ryerson, Melanie has performed in Fall for Dance North with Charles Moultons 72 Person ball pass project, and was a featured performer in Alysa Pires creation for “Ryerson Dances.” In her on screen work, Melanie has worked on the Netflix series “Riverdale” as a featured dancer. In her artistic practice, Melanie pulls inspiration from exploring the perceived limits humans place on themselves, and breaking through our self-set limitations to be able to tap into our true physical abilities.
